Environmental Programs Floripa Airport

Durante as obras do novo terminal de passageiros do aeroporto de Florianópolis, a Floripa Airport adotou uma série de ações para a manutenção da qualidade ambiental do aeroporto e seu entorno.

  • Water Quality and Monitoring Program
    This program measures monthly the parameters of quality of surface water and in 11 (eleven) points located in the surroundings of the project, aiming at maintenance of the regions water quality. The results obtained in the are compared to the maximum acceptable levels legislation.


  • Erosive Process Control Program
    To prevent sediment transport to unwanted areas or destabilization of the soils, constant monitoring is carried out during the implantation phase preventive measures, such as: implementation of temporary drainage for directing rainwater; deployment of containment systems; slope resizing; planting of grasses in surfaces with soil exposed.
  • Environmental Program for Construction

    The objective of the Environmental Program for Construction is to define and guide the implementation of adequate technical procedures, environmental laws and regulations, on different fronts, in order to of a safe environment in terms of environmental and occupational quality at the construction site.


  • Construction Minimization and Waste Management Program
    This program is responsible for guiding the correct management of wastes generated during construction, so that they are separated according to their typologies (plastic, paper, wood, organic, etc.), stored in appropriate places inside the construction site and destined properly for landfills or recycling, by licensed companies, reducing risks of contamination of soil and water during all stages of implementation of the project.
  • Noise Monitoring Program

    This Monitoring Program establishes procedures to control noise generating sources at the construction site, in order to enable the maintenance of acoustic comfort in the workplace and in the surrounding community. To monitor sound pressure levels, measurements are made periodically with the use of a decibel meter at predetermined points at the construction site and in the regions surrounding the project.


  • Social Communication Program

    The Social Communication Program was created to establish a continuous communication system between Floripa Airport, the project staff and the surrounding population, to clarify doubts regarding the expansion work, impacts and environmental programs implemented in the different stages of the project , in order to minimize social conflicts.   • Environmental Education Program aimed at Community
    The objective of this program is to enable the exchange of knowledge with the community, related to the environment in interface with the airport activities, in addition to disseminating the importance of the enterprise to the municipality, especially to the surrounding regions. This will be done through awareness-raising activities - such as lectures in schools, exhibitions, airport visits - for the entire community, bringing to the fore the importance of each in the conservation of the environment.
  • Risk Management Program
    The Risk Management Program aims at continuously identifying, analyzing and mitigating risks during the implementation phase of the enterprise, seeking the lowest possible incidence of emergencies and preserving the physical integrity of users and the environment during and after an incident or accident which could occur. Emergency assistance simulations are performed periodically for the training of construction site staff.
  • Environmental Education Program for construction workers
    Assist in the process of raising awareness and awareness among the employees involved in the expansion works of the airport regarding the importance of each one in the correct functioning of the implementation of environmental programs, in the prevention of pollution and conservation of the environment.

  • Environmental Recovery Program
    This Program is responsible for restoring soil quality and vegetation coverage of areas that needed to be changed momentarily to allow the implementation of the project. Thus, after demobilization of the construction site, for example, an extensive Degraded Areas Recovery Project will be implemented, including actions such as planting native seedlings and promoting natural regeneration.
  • Archaeological Monitoring Program

    The follow-up of an archaeologist, during the first phases of implementation of the project, is carried out to ensure that any archaeological sites on the site are preserved. In the case of the encounter of some vestige that indicates the presence of site, the IPHAN - Institute of National Historical and Artistic Heritage - is activated and the place is delimited for prospection.


  • Particulate Control Program
    This program prevents and mitigates the impact of particulate matter and air pollutants emitted by construction machinery, in order to ensure the quality of life of workers and the surrounding population. To do this, they are carried out periodically: the maintenance of the machinery; wetting the soil to avoid the suspension of particulates; control of black smoke emitted by the vehicle fleet; monthly measurement of air quality parameters such as sulfur dioxide, nitrogen dioxide, carbon monoxide; among other actions.


  • Environmental Supervision Program

    This Program is responsible for planning and supervising the due fulfillment of all other environmental programs listed in the Environmental Installation License, ensuring the effective application of good environmental management practices during the expansion works of the airport and full compliance with the conditions required by the environmental agency.


Environmental Regulation

Em 28 de fevereiro de 2018, foi emitida a Licença Ambiental de Instalação (LAI) nº 1485/2018 pelo Instituto de Meio Ambiente de Santa Catarina. A obtenção e o atendimento às condicionantes desse documento garantem que a construção do novo terminal de passageiros esteja em conformidade com a legislação ambiental vigente.

In the new terminal

The new terminal will adopt a series of measures that contribute to sustainability.


  • Rainwater reuse

    Rainwater will be reused to water gardens, flush toilets and for other purposes that do not require potable water

  • Indoor gardens

    The microclimate created by the vegetation will help reduce energy consumption from air conditioning.

  • LED

    Much of the lighting will use LED light bulbs, improving energy efficiency and decreasing energy usage.
